Course objectives:
|
Student of the KMA/GK course familiarizes essential theory of cartography (basic terminology and definitions, relations to other scientific domains, classification of cartography and cartographic products), current thematic maps and primarily cartographic techniques with stress to geographical cartography.

Requirements on student
|
Credits: To meet assignments in tutorials (usually there will be 4-6 assignments specified in information materials of the course).
Exam: The exam is composed of three test. The necessary condition to pass the exam is to get at least more than 50% of point in each test. The sample test are available on the web.

Knowledge - students are expected to possess the following knowledge before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
Student should have a basic knowledge on geography and cartography on the level of secondary school (gymnasium) and previous courses at the University of West Bohemia. |

Learning outcomes

Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course: |
Student after passing exam will have a general knowledge on cartographic terminology, cartographic products and techniques. Student should be able to analyze input data, to select relevant cartographic method and to create a correct map or other cartographic product. |
